Take live audience questions with a QR code on your slide
“Any questions?” followed by silence is a staple of every seminar. Give people a way to ask without a microphone: a QR code on your closing slide that drops them into a shared room. Questions arrive signed with nicknames, each in its own color - and shy people finally ask.
Set it up before you go on
- Create a room on the device you’ll present from (or a second device on the lectern). You join instantly as the owner.
- Screenshot the room’s QR code from the share panel and put it on a slide: “Questions? Scan this.”
- Show the slide early, not just at the end - questions can queue up while you talk.
- Attendees scan, pick any nickname, and type. Each person’s messages appear in their own color.
- Glance at the room between sections, or work through the queue at the end.
- Afterwards, tap Copy all if you want the questions for follow-up. The room deletes itself within hours.
Let the room correct you
Panels and technical talks have a second use for the same room: a live backchannel. Invite your co-hosts or the subject experts in the audience to post corrections and additions as you go - “the 2024 figure was actually 12%” - Priya. You see it on the lectern, fold it in gracefully, and the audience gets a better talk. It beats someone interrupting from row three, and the color-coded names tell you instantly who’s speaking.
Share the venue Wi-Fi in the same room
A neat trick for workshops: make the Wi-Fi the first message. Post the network name and password into the room, and everyone who scans your QR gets connected before the talk even starts. Running a paid event? Lock the room with a password (the shield button) and say the word out loud in the room - people present get in, and the QR is useless to anyone who finds it later. Rooms also refuse links, so nobody can hijack your Q&A with spam.
What size event does this fit?
A room holds up to 200 devices at once, which covers most events where a Q&A tool earns its place:
- Workshops and training sessions - every participant on their own phone.
- Seminars, panels and meetups - everyone scans the same slide and asks from their seat.
- Team offsites and all-hands - questions collected during the talk, answered at the end.
- Lecture theatres - up to 200 seats fits in one room; past that, one phone per row keeps it within the limit.
FAQ
Does the audience need an app or account?
No. They scan the QR with their phone camera, the room opens in the browser, they pick any nickname and type. Nothing to install, nothing to sign up for, nothing to uninstall after.
How big an audience does it handle?
Up to 200 devices per room. For bigger halls, one shared phone per row or table keeps it within the limit - and filters the questions a little, too.
Can I pause questions while I present?
Yes. Flip the room to read-only (the lock button) and only you can post; flip it back when you open the floor.
What happens to the questions after the talk?
Tap Copy all if you want them for follow-up emails or an FAQ. The room erases itself after 6 hours of inactivity, 24 hours at the very latest.
